Dear Parents,

Our mission at Columbus Bilingual Academy is to provide a nurturing environment of academic excellence, which provides for the development of responsible cross-cultural world citizens with an enriched understanding of self and others.

Our vision is to become a high-performing academy that drives the learning of all children for success in local and global communities through holistic, intellectually inspiring academic and language-acquisition programs.

Community School

Community schools offer an alternative to the local public school. They are free and open to all students and focused on meeting student needs for success. Community schools are among the top-performing schools in the nation.

Educational Approach

Our educational approach has five principles at its core. These principles provide a strong foundation for learning and include: 1) Culture of respect, 2) High expectations for student achievement, 3) Academic excellence, 4) Safe and nurturing environment, 5) Education and empower.

Culture of Respect

Culture of Respect

CBA’s culture of respect is expected between and among staff, parents, students and the communities that CBA serves. We are committed to acknowledging and celebrating the diversity within our community while affirming the importance of our common humanity. By promoting a safe environment for questioning and challenge, we foster the growth and value that comes from different perspectives, cultures and experiences. We believe it is the right, privilege and responsibility of each individual to contribute to and work in an environment of trust and cooperation.
High Expectations

High Expectations

CBA believes the utilization of data and resources helps teachers and school leaders develop targeted instructional strategies for excellence. CBA uses school-wide instructional monitoring and accountability systems to ensure academic expectations are being met consistently throughout the year for each student.
Academic Excellence

Academic Excellence

“Good, better, best.  Never ever rest, until your good gets better, and your better turns to best.” By infusing this statement into the mindset of each student, it will remind them that ambition leads to achievement of academic excellence. CBA expects that each student will commit to the “value of learning.”  CBA is committed to challenging each student to meet their academic potential. We equip our students with the necessary skills to excel in college.
Safe and Nurturing Environment

Safe and Nurturing Environment

CBA is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for our students. Upon entry, CBA promotes a warm family atmosphere. Our goal is to provide a safe haven for students and our community. We aim to provide a place where learning takes place and students have a sense of acceptance and pride.
Educate and Empower

Educate and Empower

Education should be available to everyone. As a public institution we are here to serve everyone. CBA empowers our youth for success by teaching our students to think critically, communicate, collaborate, lead, use technology, have a strong work ethic, be creative, be independent, be ethical, be passionate lifelong learners, and all other skills necessary to be responsible cross-cultural world citizens with an enriched understanding of self and others.

Results

We are a student and data centered school that focuses on results. The average student has a growth goal of 1.0 years of growth – basically moving from one grade level to the next. We know our students need and deserve more at Columbus Bilingual Academy North so we boast above average student growth. Our students grew 1.05 years in Reading and 1.14 years in Mathematics in 2013-2014 according to the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress assessment. We saw large amounts of growth in 6th grade Mathematics with an average of 1.46 years of growth!
